Friday 6th March

A Great White Egret and 4 Goosanders were at Wykeham South Lake this morning, and at Seamer Road Mere there were 3 Little Grebes, a Pink-footed Goose, a pair of Teal, 28 Tufted Duck, a pair of Goldeneye and a Water Rail. A Jack Snipe was at the Long Nab scrape, and the Hooded Crow was again seen south of Scalby Lodge 'pond', where there were also 42 Curlew in the fields. At the Open Air Theatre there was a Water Rail, while at Scalby Mills there were 398 Wigeon, 3 Mediterranean Gulls (2 adults and a third calendar year bird), a Lesser Black-backed Gull, 8 Common Gulls, a Great Black-backed Gull, 315 Black-headed Gulls and 540 Herring Gulls. At Scalby Nab/Jackson's Bay there were 36 Redshank, 41 Oystercatchers, 15 Turnstones and 6 Purple Sandpipers.
