Thursday 19th March

A Red Kite flew south past Long Nab early this morning, and a Snow Bunting was again in the fields between Cromer Point and Crook Ness, where the Firecrest remains, plus at least one Twite with 80 Linnets. 60 Fieldfares and a Yellowhammer were at Star Carr, and at Wykeham South Lake there were 4 Goldeneye, 2 Gadwall, 17 Cormorants and a singing Chiffchaff. 2 more Chiffchaffs were singing on the Cleveland way between Holbeck and Cornelian. In the Dalby/Crosscliffe area there was a Green Woodpecker in the valley, plus a single and a pair of Willow Tits, 7 Buzzards and 3 Goshawks. 4 Pink-footed Geese were at Harwood Dale Lake and the Hooded Crow was at Scalby Lodge pond. An Egyptian Goose flew high south-east over Crossgates, dodging a pair of circling Buzzards, and one was also seen at Throxenby Mere.
