47 Whooper Swans flew north over Long Nab this morning, as did a third winter Glaucous Gull. 2 Chiffchaffs were at Burton Riggs, another was again at The Dene, another was singing at Seamer Road Mere, and yet another was singing at Crook Ness. A Barn Owl was seen at Taylor Way, and a Lesser Black-backed Gull without a tail was to the west of Seamer Tip pool. Red Kites were seen at various places: one flew west over Hutton Buscel, 2 flew west over Woodlands Ravine and Stepney Road, one was at Ellerburn, and another at Scampston Park. The Hooded Crow was again in a ploughed field at Flotmanby, south of the A1039, while 12 Herons were in the field north of the road. A Little Egret was near the sewage works on Cayton Carr, a Great Crested Grebe was in North Bay, and an adult Little Gull was spotted at Wykeham South Lake. At Seamer Road Mere there were 17 Tufted Duck, a Pink-footed Goose, a female Goosander and 3 Goldeneye. 2 Kingfishers, a male and a female, were behind the Open Air Theatre.
