The
first news of the day was a Great
Northern Diver that flew South past Long Nab at 08.20.
The
goose flock on Seamer Carr had shown a small increase today with now 39 Tundra Bean Geese, 6 White-fronted Geese and 2 Greylag Geese in the group.
In
the Long Nab area a Stonechat, 20 Curlews, 3 Snipe and 25 Reed Buntings and at
Johnson’s Marsh 21 Teal, 60 Wigeon and 8 Herons.
At
The Mere today’s count included 37 Mute Swans, 2♀ Teal, 11 Mallard, 33 Tufted
Duck, 3 (2♂1♀) Goosander, 22 Cormorants including 19 of the race sinensis, 17 Moorhen and 1 Coot.
The
South Bay/Harbour area was still productive with 2 Long-tailed Ducks, 2 Velvet
Scoter, Common Scoter, 2 Great Northern
Divers, 3 Red-throated Divers and a Black-necked
Grebe. In neighbouring North Bay 2
Common Scoter and 74 Wigeon were on the sea and the Black Redstart was seen
again on the sea defences near the Albert Café.
In
Cayton Bay the Velvet Scoter remained with 8 Common Scoter and at Holbeck there
were 6 Mediterranean Gulls including the 1st winter bird.
