Today
started with the report of Redwings moving over the town in the early morning
fog. Continuing the theme of migration we had some movement at Long Nab today
with 169 Linnets, 46 Goldfinches, 11 Chaffinches, 27 Meadow Pipits and 6 Sand
Martins all heading south, also in the Long Nab area 13 Shore Larks, a Redwing, a Wheatear and 15 Brambling.
Johnson’s
Marsh still had a ♂ Garganey and a
single Swallow went south over North Bay this evening.
The
♂ Garganey was still present at
Potter Brompton Carr along with a Little Egret, 22 Teal, 4 Wigeon and a Little
Ringed Plover. Wykeham South Lake had 4 Egyptian Geese, 2 Goldeneye and 3
Little Ringed Plovers and to the west of the lakes there was a Green Woodpecker
and a Willow Warbler.
News
from some less frequently visited areas today included 7 Buzzards, 7 Golden
Plovers and 3 Stonechats on High Moor, a Willow Warbler at Muston, a Blackcap
near the depot at Low Yedmandale and 2 Sand Martins and 2 Shelducks north and 3
Siskins south at South Cliff.
Finally
in Ellerburn this evening there were 2♀ Goosander, a Goshawk, 5 Common
Buzzards, a Kingfisher, 2 Grey Wagtails, 4 Swallows and 3 Willow Tits.
