The
Great White Egret at Seamer Tip Pool
was still present today but initially it was a little nervous and on a couple
of occasions flew off to the northwest. At one point a second bird was
suspected as whilst one was being watched in a tree on the Mere there was also
one reported at Seamer Tip Pool. However, after this one off incident the bird
remained fairly faithful to its original location and even though it flew off
on a couple of occasions it returned fairly quickly and a second bird was not
reported again. Also on the pool today were a Pintail, 4 Teal and 4/5 Tufted
Duck among the resident Mallards.
Elsewhere,
there were two reports of Ospreys in our area with one southwest over Westwood
Court towards The Mere at 11.32 and then another flew low over the A1039
towards Hunmamby at 17.35; the 2 Wood and 2 Green Sandpipers remained on the
North Stile Farm pool and had been joined by 2 Snipe and a Lapwing and at
Wykeham South Lake this evening a Little Egret, 1200 Herring Gulls, 25 Greater
Black-backed Gulls, 14+ Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 25 Common Gulls and 40
Black-headed Gulls.
