Wednesday 31st July

Highlights passing Long Nab this morning include a Sooty Shearwater, 44 Manx Shearwaters, 2 Arctic Skuas, a Bonxie, 333 Common Scoter, 2 Curlew Sandpipers, 14 Bar-tailed Godwits, 31 Knot and a Mediterranean Gull. There have been lots of Sandpipers around today: 15 Common Sandpipers at Harwood Dale Lake, where there was also a Little Grebe and a Snipe; 6 Common Sandpipers at Johnson's Marsh; 33 Common Sandpipers at Wykeham South Lake; and 2 Green Sandpipers and a Wood Sandpiper at the pool below Northstile House, Wrench Green, where there was also a Kingfisher and a Grey Wagtail. 2 Sanderling, a Dunlin, 43 Oystercatchers and 8 Sandwich Terns were seen in Jackson's Bay.
