Waxwings galore again today: 3 opposite the Duchess pub; 32 in Cayton; 50 around Raven Close/Nightingale Lane, Crossgates; 34 at Plover Gardens off Heron Lane; 17 near the Oak Wheel pub in Burniston and 15 on Dean Road opposite the Ellis Centre. The
Scaup was still at Burton Riggs, 2 Wigeon circled over Seamer Tip pool, a Red-throated Diver was in the harbour, and a Goldeneye and 8 Teal were in Cornelian Bay. A Kingfisher was seen at Scalby Mills flying over the beck, and a ringed Chiffchaff was in gardens at The Dene, Peasholm. Results of a BTO WeBS count at Wykeham Lakes (all the lakes): 2 Mute Swans, 16 Teal, 64 Wigeon, 27 Gadwall, 44 Mallard, 6 Goldeneye, 38 Tufted Ducks, 11 Cormorants, 9 Great Crested Grebes, 4 Little Grebes and 91 Coot. 900 Lapwings and 800 Golden Plover were at Willerby/Binnington Carrs.
