Wednesday 11th December

A Marsh Harrier, 6 Great Crested Grebes, 5 Goldeneye, 53 Coot, 21 Tufted Duck and 17 Mallards were at Wykeham South Lake this morning. 39 Pink-footed Geese flew north at Long Nab, and at Burton Riggs the Scaup remained along with a Teal, and both male and female Goosanders. Waxwings were again in abundance around Burniston - 26 were seen in gardens opposite the Three Jolly Sailors pub in the morning, and later smaller groups were seen just south of the pub. A Red-throated Diver and Little Egret was at the harbour, and a Mediterranean Gull was on rooftops at Holbeck. 180 Greylag Geese and 11 Mute Swans were seen at Low Marishes.
