Thursday 1st September

A juvenile Long-tailed Skua, one Shoveler, three Arctic Terns and 13 Arctic Skuas (1S) flew north past Long Nab Obs and a Northern Wheatear was present. Two Turtle Doves were on the overhead wires behind Burniston Village Hall and three Sandwich Terns were on rocks at the north end of Cayton Bay. One Greenshank, one Green Sandpiper, one Common Sandpiper, one Dunlin, two Common Snipe, five Teal and seven Stock Doves were at Wykeham East Lake during the day.  Scalby Mills this evening hosted 18 Wigeon, 15 Sandwich Terns, eight Redshank, 10 Turnstone, two Curlew, two Oystercatcher and four Cormorant. A Hobby was at Gristhorpe Bay. Of particular interest was the news of a first calendar year male Firecrest ringed in Dalby Forest today (per Ian Nicholson).
