Monday 19th June

 Two Red Kites were over Crossgates at lunch time, one tatty looking one SW and one W. Gannets were feeding off Marine Drive and a Little Grebe with three chicks, Jay and Common Buzzard were the highlights at Newlands Dale pond.  Two Jay and possibly three Great Spotted Woodpeckers were at Forge Valley. At the seaward end of Salt Pans Road, Cloughton this morning between 0940hrs and 1040hrs, 16 Manx Shearwaters passed (11N and 5S close inshore), one Sandwich Tern and four Curlew flew N. A Peregrine was over Hutton Buscel this afternoon and a Quail was calling distantly between Long Nab and Hundale Point this evening. Nightjars tonight included six at Dalby Snout, two at Wykeham Forest and one at Allerston High Moor Road at the entrance to Dalby Forest. Single Woodcocks were noted at Dalby Snout and Wykeham Forest. A Tawny Owl flew across the road between Suffield and Scalby and one was heard at Wykeham Forest.
