Wednesday 4th September

 With a swing in the winds to the north (NNW) an increase in seabirds moving was evident at Long Nab; a Balearic Shearwater, 18 Sooty Shearwaters, 272 Manx Shearwaters, 27 Arctic Skuas, Long-tailed Skua, 4 Great Skuas. A Whimbrel flew south in the evening. Four Gadwall, 2 Little Grebes at Seamer Road Mere. A Swift flew south at Ravenscar, grounded migrants included a Redstart, Whitethroat, Blackcap, 10 Chiffchaffs, plus 30 Swallows, and 5 Bullfinch. Five Ravens flew over Bridestones, Dalby Forest. 27 Mandarins in Troutsdale. 10 Crossbills at Broxa Forest. A Yellow-legged Gull (1cy) was on the silt at East Lake (NY Water Park), different to yesterday's bird. Also there a Shoveler, Common Sandpiper and 3 Sand Martins.
