A juvenile Glaucous Gull was seen flying South at Long Nab at 09.20 by Micky McNaghten but whether this is the Scalby Mills bird or a different individual is open to conjecture.

Waxwings appeared again today with 3 being seen briefly on Stepney Drive by Terry Hobson.

4 Whooper Swans flew Southwest over Gildercliffe this morning and were then seen on Seamer Tip pool before finally being recorded flying Southwest over Star Carr at 09.40. Also at Star Carr there was a Green Sandpiper on the River Hertford and a Little Egret.

At Pottor Brompton Carr 10+ White-fronted Geese were seen early morning but flew towards Wykeham South Lake and there were also a Woodcock, a Snipe, 190 Teal and 13 Wigeon.

The 3 Goosanders were still present on The Mere and just along Queen Margaret’s Road there were 3 Pink-footed Geese with the feral Greylag flock.

Burton Riggs hosted 19 White-fronted Geese, a Great-crested Grebe, 2 Gadwall and a Barnacle Goose during the day and nearby on the east side of Seamer Tip there was a Willow Tit.

The South Bay/Harbour area still held the usual culprits with 2 Long-tailed Ducks and a Velvet Scoter opposite The Spa and a Great Northern Diver and 2 Black-necked Grebes in the Harbour.

At Wykeham South Lake there were 19 White-fronted Geese, 3 Tundra Bean Geese, an Egyptian Goose and 2 Peregrines.

At other locations in the area, 4 Pink-footed Geese and a Shelduck on Harwood Dale Lake and at Scalby Mills 165 Wigeon, 2 Lapwing and a Common Scoter.
