Thursday 26th March

Many Chiffchaffs were at The Mere and Oliver's Mount this morning, and a Swallow and a Sand Martin flew south at Long Nab. A Great Crested Grebe was opposite the North Bay chalets, and at The Mere there were 3 Goldeneye and a Goosander. At Seamer Tip there were 12 Redwings, 2 Water Rails, and a Green Sandpiper in the New Dike. 2 Little Egrets were on Seamer Mead and about 100 Fieldfares were by Seamer Carr. 7 Bottlenose Dolphins were spotted about 300m off Cayton Bay heading north. The drake Eider was still in North Bay, and at Scalby Mills there were 93 Wigeon, 4 Curlew, 6 Oystercatchers, 3 Redshanks, a Great Crested Grebe, and a Yellow-legged Gull, plus a Grey Seal sitting on the outer rocks, while a steady trickle of Gannets passed by southwards. 3 Chiffchaffs and a Bullfinch were at the Open Air Theatre, and a Swallow flew north over Hutton Buscel. A Common Buzzard flew east over Cayton Village
