Wednesday 25th March

A Buzzard was seen over Scalby Beck, near the Youth Hostel this morning. 3 singing Chiffchaffs and 4 Yellowhammers were along Cockrah Road, 2 Peregrines at the quarry, and 2 more singing Chiffchaffs and a Lapwing at Low Yedmandale. A Kingfisher, a Dipper and 4 Grey Wagtails were near Hilla Green bridge. A Peregrine was circling over Taylor Way, along with a Buzzard, while a Buzzard was also seen over Northstead and 2 flew south over the sea at Cayton Bay. Yet another Buzzard was seen flying south, high over Westwood Court, and 4 were sparring over Stepney and heading inland. A pair of Blackcaps were in Crescent Gardens, and 5 Eiders, a pair of Stonechats and a Goldcrest were at Gristhorpe Bay. Highlights from Long Nab include a Buzzard, 3 Sparrowhawks, a Sand Martin, 293 Meadow Pipits, 72 Linnets, 45 Goldfinches and 43 Chaffinches all heading south. A Hooded Crow was in the field just north of Scalby Lodge Cottages, and 4 Goldcrests were in the coastal gullies near Scalby Lodge.
