Thursday 8th August

A Marsh Harrier was seen over a harvested field west of Wilton early this morning. Kingfishers were present at both Taylor Way and Seamer Tip pools. 15 Mistle Thrushes were in the fields below Seamer Tip pool, and 2 Green Sandpipers were in the ditch on the east side of Seamer Tip. 3 pairs of Stonechats and 4+ juveniles were seen on Fylingdales Moor. In Wrench Green there was a family of 3+ Spotted Flycatchers including a juvenile being fed by a parent. The Wood Sandpiper is still at Northstile pool, along with 4 Teal, a female Mandarin, 2 Grey Wagtails, a Heron, Moorhens and Mallards. 3 Egyptian Geese and 13 Lesser Black-backed Gulls were on Wykeham South Lake, while on the fishing lake there were 4 Kingfishers, 2 pairs of Little Grebes with chicks, 4 pairs of Coots and a Common Sandpiper. At least 11 Swifts were still over Valley Road this evening.
