Sunday 25th August

A Honey-Buzzard was observed flying NW between Muston and Folkton at 3pm. An Osprey was seen at Selley ridge lake. Seen on a trip on the Becca-Marie this morning: 2+ Minke Whales, 5 Harbour Porpoises, 3 Grey Seals, 5 Manx Shearwaters, 20+ Fulmars, an Arctic Skua, 2 sightings of a Great Skua, 31 Knot, 4 Dunlin, a Puffin, a Razorbill, a Guillemot, a Sandwich Tern, 3 Common Terns, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, and several Painted Lady butterflies up to 7 miles out. 3+ Whinchats and 3+ Stonechats were seen on Jugger Howe Moor, and 3 Whinchats were also at Scalby Lodge small pool. 2 Green Sandpipers flew south at Long Nab, and 200 Goldfinches were at Seamer Mead.A Tawny Owl was in the bushes on the north side of Seamer Tip, where the Tip's one pair of Red-legged Partridges were seen sitting dangerously exposed on the apex.
