Saturday 17th August

Early this morning 2 Willow Tits were seen in Wrench Green and a juvenile Yellow-legged Gull flew north past Long Nab. In the middle of the day a Merlin was seen hunting over Jackson's Bay/Scalby Lodge, a Ringed Plover was in Jackson's Bay, 3 Reed Buntings were at Cromer Point pond, and a Hobby flew over Peasholm. Spotted from Wykeham Raptor Viewpoint were: a Honey Buzzard, about 12 Common Buzzards, 2 Peregrines, a female Goshawk and a juvenile Kestrel. A Bar-tailed Godwit, 11 Whimbrel and 2 Golden Plover flew south past Long Nab, while 2 Arctic Skuas and a Great Skua flew north. At Scalby Mills this evening there were 85 Black-headed Gulls, an adult Mediterranean Gull and 2 juvenile Grey Wagtails. 17 Swifts were feeding over the Old Town.
