Tuesday 13th August

A Wood Warbler was seen in a tit flock at Newlands Dale. At Long Nab: Early this morning a Whinchat was present at Crook Ness car park, a Wheatear was near Fields Farm, and small numbers of Willow Warblers were in the area. Later in the morning 5 Goosanders, a Porpoise and a Bottlenose Dolphin were all seen heading north. In the early evening there were 2 Wheatears, a Stonechat, 12+ Willow Warblers and 9 Yellow Wagtails present. A flock of about 60 Linnets plus a number of Yellowhammers and Chaffinches was seen in a field on the way to Wykeham South Lake, where there were 5 Egyptian Geese. A large falcon, probably the escaped Saker hybrid, was seen being mobbed by a Kestrel at Standing Stones Rigg near Cloughton, where there was also a Crossbill, a Redstart and a Spotted Flycatcher. At least 27 Swifts were over Valley Road this evening.
