A male Tawny Owl was calling just before first light in Burniston, two adult Mediterranean Gulls were at Seamer Road Mere and a Red-throated Diver was in South Bay. Nine Purple Sandpipers were on the outer harbour rocks. 103 Wigeon were at Scalby Mills at high tide. 53 Tufted Duck, 46 Coot, five Goldeneye, three Gadwall, six Great crested Grebe, six Bullfinch and 12 Siskin were at Wykeham Water Sports Lake. At Potter Brompton Carr viewed from Hay Bridge, a cream crowned Marsh Harrier, a juvenile Whooper Swan, 300+ Lapwing, 30+ Wigeon and five Grey Heron were noted. A Red Kite, three Common Buzzard, one Barn Owl, 12 Yellowhammer, one Nuthatch and a Siskin were at Troutsdale. Highlights past Long Nab this morning were 12 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, three Barnacle Geese (N), three Whooper Swans, 108 Little Gulls (103S,5N) and an Arctic Skua. 144 Curlew, 81 Redshank, seven Purple Sandpipers, 45 Oystercatchers, seven Turnstone, 11 Grey Heron, seven Cormorant, four Wigeon, one Teal, 12 Grey Partridge and two pairs of Stonechat were at Gristhorpe Bay and the surrounding area.
