The Sand Martins are returning: 4 flew north through South Cliff, one was seen over Trafalgar Road, one over Heron Lane, and 6 at Gristhorpe. A large inland movement of Herring Gulls (1000+) was seen at Hutton Buscel, and a second calendar year Iceland Gull flew south past South Cliff. The Black Redstart was again in gorse and hawthorn in the field east of Seamer Tip Pool throughout the day. A drake Pochard and a drake Shoveler were at Burton Riggs, while at Wykeham Lakes 6 Goldeneye, 9 Great Crested Grebes, Great White Egret and 9 Chiffchaffs were at the South Lake and 3 Chiffchaffs, 3 Goldeneye and 2 Marsh Tits were at East Lake. A female Sparrowhawk was spotted at Hutton Buscel and 2 Buzzards were seen from Racecourse Road. At least 3 Great Northern Divers were again between South Bay and Cornelian Bay and a Grey Plover was in the latter bay. A total of 1679 Meadow Pipits flew north along South Cliff. At Long Nab a Little Egret, a Sand Martin, and 2 White Wagtails flew south, and at Gristhorpe Bay 2 Wheatears and 2 Swallows were seen. 2 adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls flew over the council yard, and a Swallow was spotted at Seamer Road Mere. Three Red Kites at Wykeham Forest.
