Sunday 14th March
20 Redwing were seen in Hutton Buscel this morning. A Grey Wagtail was on the beck near the Youth Hostel, while a Dipper was nearer the coast and a Kestrel was on the cliffs. 80 Linnets and 50 Fieldfare were in the field to the Seamer side of the tip, a Great White Egret flew south-west over Seamer Mead and a Little Egret flew north-west from the same location. A Chiffchaff was among rushes at the Star Carr scrape, and another was calling at Burton Riggs. 2 Goshawks and 5 Buzzards were seen from Wykeham Raptor Viewpoint, and a Buzzard was also seen over Limestone Road. About 600 large gulls, mostly Herring Gulls, were at East Knapton piggeries, 2 Buzzards were at Potter Brompton, and a Tawny Owl flew from the roadside verge at Sherburn carrying a rat. A Great Northern Diver was again in the harbour this afternoon, 13 Kittiwakes were in South Bay, and 4 Mediterranean Gulls (3 of them adult) were off the Holbeck landslip.
