Thursday 4th March

A Buzzard was seen heading west, high over Scalby Lodge Pond this morning, and on Seamer Mead there were 20 Teal, a Kingfisher and a Little Egret. 22 Kittiwakes flew past Long Nab - the largest count so far this year. A splash of colour was brought to a Scalby garden with 7+ Greenfinches, 6+ Siskins and a pair of Goldfinches all together on the feeders. A Redpoll, a Jay, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Treecreeper, a Bullfinch and a Nuthatch were also seen in Scalby village, and 2 Fieldfares were in Hutton Buscel. Mandarin Ducks, Little Grebes, Siskins, a Jay and a Goldcrest were all seen in Hackness, and 120 Jackdaws and 53 Goldfinches were in trees near the sixth form college. In Gristhorpe Bay there were 2 Bar-tailed Godwits, a Greenshank and a Grey Plover.
