Monday 15th March

2 Willow Tits,3 Siskins and a Little Grebe were seen at Burton Riggs this morning, and 2 Oystercatchers were at Seamer Tip pools. A Little Egret was at Johnson's Marsh, a Great Northern Diver flew north past Long Nab, and 3 groups of Kittiwakes totalling 90+ birds were on the sea off North Marine Drive. A pair of Lapwings were seen in courtship flight display by the Great Moor Road from Hutton Buscel, plus 6 Yellowhammers. At Seamer Road Mere this afternoon there was a Little Grebe and a Chiffchaff. Highlights from a WeBS count at Wykeham Lakes included: a Pink-footed Goose, 20 Goldeneye, 3 Jack Snipe, 2 Willow Tits, 5 Chiffchaff, and a Mealy Redpoll. A pre-roost gathering there was composed of 350 Black-headed Gulls and 700 Common Gulls. In Gristhorpe Bay just before high tide there were: 137 Curlew, 109 Redshank, 76 Oystercatcher, 41 Purple Sandpiper, 12 Turnstone, 2 Dunlin, a Grey Plover, a Bar-tailed Godwit and a Greenshank.
