Monday 20th June

A Little Egret was in poolside trees at Johnson's Marsh this morning and a Quail was calling at Silpho this afternoon. A change in wind direction to northerly resulted in a strong northerly passage of seabirds past Long Nab this morning between 0530hrs and 1300hrs. The second highest total of Manx Shearwaters, some 929, were joined by 312 Common Scoters, two Arctic Skuas, one Great Skua, two Arctic Terns, one Common Tern and the second highest recorded passage of 449 Atlantic Puffins. A family party of four Willow Tits was in the Lang Dale area of Broxa Forest this afternoon plus a lone singing male in the same area. Nightjars were again churring in the stand of short trees just north of THe Falcon Inn late evening.
