Thursday 23rd June

A Quail was singing below the track to Northstile, Wrench Green this morning and two Tree Pipits were displaying and a Willow Tit calling. A Hobby was over North Moor Road and a Red Kite drifted south over Burniston. Returning pairs of breeding Lesser Black backed Gulls were reported from Candler Street (1+ chicks) and Beechville Avenue. Two were also seen over Hackness Road, a single over Murray Street and a single over a Scalby garden. A small flock of seven Common Scoter were on the sea off Cromer Point this afternoon, the long staying Whooper Swan remained at Scarborough Mere along with a Tufted Duck brood of eight ducklings and a Redshank was at Johnson's Marsh. A Turtle Dove was flushed from the roadside at Barmoor Lane, Scalby. A singing Willow Tit near Backleys Farm.
