Sunday 3rd May

A pod of Dolphins was seen early this morning heading north past Cornelian Bay then Marine Drive. 2 Swifts flew over Manor Road Park, and later in the day 5 flew over the old prison. Passing Long Nab were a Great White Egret, 2 Eiders, 2 Whimbrel, a Dunlin, a Common Tern and 54 Sandwich Terns all north, plus 2 Whimbrel and a Tree Pipit south. The Grasshopper Warbler remains at Scalby Nab, a Sedge Warbler was singing at Cromer Point Pond, and 2 Teal and 2 Coot were at Johnson's Marsh. Sedge Warblers were also seen at Burton Riggs, New Dike near Seamer Tip (4), and Seamer Tip pools, where there was also a Reed Warbler. 16 Fieldfares were at Seamer Carr. A Willow Tit was in Cornelian Ravine, 2 Sandwich Terns were off Holbeck, and in the south Cliff area there were 7 Curlew and 2 Whimbrel. Highlights from Cockrah Road, Spiker's Hill and the forest at West Ayton Moor included 76 Linnets, 3 Lapwings and a Goshawk. A Garden Warbler and 3 Siskins were in Falsgrave Park, where later in the afternoon a Hobby was spotted overhead. A Crane was seen circling over Crossgates, and a White-tailed Eagle was also seen high over Crossgates, heading towards the coast.
