Sunday 31st May

Last night in Wykeham Forest a Woodcock survey near the raptor viewpoint resulted in 9 Woodcock passes. A Nightjar was churring nearby and another was at the south edge of the nursery. In another clearing 5/6 Nightjars were seen/heard and there were 6/7 Woodcock passes. This morning a male Peregrine flew over Crossgates towards the coast, and a Goldcrest was just downstream from Hilla Green bridge. 7 Eider and 19 Common Scoter flew north past Long Nab, and a Siskin flew south. In the Barley Carr Rigg area of Langdale Forest there were 2 singing Redstart, a Cuckoo, a Goshawk, 10+ Crossbills and 10 Willow Warblers. 2 Willow Tits were in Cornelian Ravine this evening, and a Tawny Owl was by the river in West Ayton.
