Tuesday 2nd October

Today’s watch at Long Nab saw 6 Pomarine, 8 Arctic and 17 Great Skuas past. Wildfowl included 95 Wigeon, 17 Pintail and three Eiders. A Whimbrel north at dawn may be a lingering bird, perhaps last year’s wintering bird which arrived in late September. 4 Common Terns flew north and two Chiffchaffs were at Crook Ness. Four Little Egrets, 19 Wigeon and 14 Teal were at Johnson’s Marsh. In North Bay there were singles of Red-throated Diver, Great Crested Grebe and Guillemot plus four Eiders flew south.
