Friday 5th October


A Lapland Bunting was feeding in fields north of the observatory at Long Nab today (mostly 2nd/3rd field north), also an increase in Skylarks grounded there, at least 40. The Barnacle Goose was viewable from Crook Ness car park (looking NE). A genareal increase in GBB Gulls along the coast, 280+ at Scalby Mills and 105 past Long Nab plus 20+ in the harbour.  A Purple Sandpiper was on East Pier rocks plus 26 Turnstones in west Pier car park. Two Arctic Terns were at Scalby Mills. 73 Mallard at Johnson’s Marsh was a high count for that site, also 14 Teal and a Dunlin. A Fieldfare, 6 Gadwall, 2 Wigeon were at Seamer tip pool. A Kingfisher at Burton Riggs.
