Friday 12th October

A Long-eared Owl was found resting in Crook Ness gully no doubt having just crossed the North Sea, also there was a Yellow-browed Warbler and the lingering Whimbrel. The north side of Castle Hill held 8 Yellow-browed Warblers, 4 Ring Ouzels, 2 Blackcaps, 3 Chiffchaffs, a Willow warbler, 12 Robins, a Goldcrest, 36 Blackbirds, 32 Redwings, 45 Song Thrushes and 3 Bramblings. A Yellow-browed Warbler was in the sweet chestnut tree south of Holbeck car park.
