A male Ring Ouzel
flew past Wykeham Raptor Viewpoint this morning where Goshawk, Sparrowhawk and
three Common Buzzards were recorded. The first autumn Redwings were seen; two
at Ravenscar and two flying in off the sea at Long Nab. The latter site held a
grounded Barnacle Goose in the observatory field plus six flew past. Also past
was at least one Pomarine Skua. Six
Whooper Swans flew south along the coast and 13 Barnacle Geese flew inland at
Jackson’s Bay. A flock of 20 Siskin were at Hilla Green. Three Song Thrushes
were seen to drop in near Seamer tip, no doubt fresh in from the continent. An
Eider remains at Scalby Mills.
