Two Grey Partridge were in a stubble field near to West Ayton and a Siskin visited a garden feeder in Heron Lane, Crossgates. A juvenile Red Kite flew south over Cliff Top House, Long Nab and probably the same bird was seen approximately 20 minutes later heading south down Weaponess Valley. 70 Pink-footed Geese flew south over Rocks Lane, Burniston and probably the same flock was seen flying south over Seamer Road Mere a short while later. 102 Great Black-backed Gulls flew south at Long Nab. Two Little Grebe were at Hackness Lake, two Mandarin Duck at Troutsdale and 28 Oystercatcher and five Curlew were at Stoupe Brow. At Newclose Rigg, Dalby, seven Waxwings were in the tops of tall spruces at the edge of the cleared area and then flew towards Dixons area. |Approximately 50 Brambling were in the Newclose Rigg to Dixon's Field area along with 28 Common Crossbill, 16 of which were feeding om beech mast around Dixon's Field, a phenomenon which has never been noticed before. A Green Woodpecker, three Willow Tit and two Marsh Tit were also seen in the conifer blocks. Up to 20 Wigeon were noted in North Bay. At least three Short-eared Owls were at Seamer Tip Pools area.
