Friday 9th December

 Waxwings were once again the focus of attention today with 12 still between berry trees at Seamer Road Retail Park and a Kingfisher was at Seamer Road Mere. A male Black Redstart was photographed in a private garden near to Dean Road Cemetery. 20 Fieldfare and three Mistle Thrushes were at Cockrah Road and a male Blackcap again visited a Heron Lane garden in Crossgates. 114 Pink-footed Geese flew south at Long Nab and two were in the filed near to Crook Ness car park. Seven Golden Plover also flew south past Long Nab. Approximately 150 Wigeon were in Cayton Bay and a further c200 flew north there. Highlights from today's BTO WeBS core count at Wykeham Lakes were three Pink-footed Geese, one drake Pintail (East Lake), 142 Mallard, 32 Gadwall, two Goosanders, 12 Goldeneye, 19 Little Grebes, one Water Rail, one Jack Snipe, one Woodcock and one Chiffchaff.
