Tuesday 20th December

 The number of male Blackcaps visiting a Crossgates garden increased to three today including a new one bearing a metal ring and a male Blackcap was at The Cellars Bar in Valley Road. A Great Northern Diver was at Wykeham Water Sports Lake and other wildfowl there were a drake Pintail, drake Goosander, four Pochard, 160 Teal, 30 Gadwall, 80 Tufted Duck, 35 Goldeneye, nine Great Crested Grebes, and eight Little Grebes. 16 Pink-footed Geese flew over and 32 Lesser Redpolls and 12 Siskins were feeding in alders at the SW corner of the lake. A male Stonechat was on the rock armour on Marine Drive opposite lamp post number 60 and a single Brambling was at Saltpans Road, Cloughton. A Woodcock flew west over Thornborough Road, Eastfield this morning and 15 Ringed Plover and nine Lapwings were on the rocks at Scalby Mills. 78 Lapwing, 38 Teal, 41 Wigeon and a Green Woodpecker were at Harwood Dale Lake and a Common Buzzard and 130+ Fieldfare were between Middle Lane and Great Moor Road, Hutton Buscel. 94 Fieldfare were at Ancatt Farm and a Common Buzzard and 26 Lapwings were between Far and Middle Lanes and a further 13 Lapwings flew over west. 397 Lapwings and 25 Pink-footed Geese flew south past Long Nab. Six Collared Doves, six Long-tailed Tits and a Kestrel were the highlights from the cinder track between Burniston and Cloughton Rocks.
