The icy weather continued its relentless grip. Waxwing numbers at Heron Lane, Crossgates had today increased to 27 and two male Blackcaps were now visiting garden feeders at the same location. Fieldfares were noted in the Hutton Buscel area at Great Moor Road (5), Middle Lane (7) and Church Lane (c30). Approximately 30 Blackbirds and three Redwings were also in the latter location. A Common Buzzard and five Redwing were noted in Middle Lane. Sparrowhawks were noted at Plaxton Court (2) and at Heron Lane, Crossgates (1). Approximately 16 Fieldfare were also noted on Field Lane, Burniston. Two Pintail, six Shoveler, one drake Goosander and 10 Goldeneye were at Wykeham Water Sports Lake. In the Dalby/Haygate area, there were 17 Lesser Redpoll, approximately 24 very vocal Common Crossbill and a Marsh Tit.
